Information

Miniature Donkeys are part of the Equine Family.  They
originated in the Mediterranean Islands of Sicily and Sardinia.
American Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys are arguably the
most gentle, affectionate and docile of all Equines.  They are
exceptionally intelligent, learn quickly, and are easily trained.
The first and foremost attraction to these little donkeys is their
loving personalities.  They form very close attachments to their
owners, and thoroughly enjoy human company.  They will ask
for your attention with friendly nudges and brays, snuffles,
snorts, and funny little sounds.   I trust my donkeys with
small children and have seen how loving they can be.

There are a growing number of donkey and mule shows and
if you enjoy that aspect of equine, then donkeys could be for you.
You can also use them to carry your backpack when hiking or
they train very easily to pull a small cart.

Miniature Donkeys have long life spans averaging 25 to 40
years of age.

These Donkeys do require vaccinations, hoof trimmings and
regular wormings.

The male donkeys are called Jacks, the female donkeys are
called Jennets.  A Jennet carries her baby for 11 1/2 to 13 months
and births a single foal.  Foals are weaned around 6 months of age.
A Jennet shouldn't be bred under 3 years of age.  Jennies only
reach physical and mental maturity sufficient for safe breeding
and successful mothering at 3 years of age.
